FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is bed linen?
The phrase covers the removable fabrics used to cover a bed. They include bed sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases. Not only do they enhance the aesthetic look of a bed but they also add comfort, warmth and hygiene. They can be sold individually or as a set. The term bed linen is often referred to as 'bedding' but this traditionally extends to cover pillows, mattresses, toppers and protectors.
What's the best thread count for bed linen?
It's widely agreed that a thread count between 200 - 600 produces the highest quality bed linen. However, higher the thread count does not always mean better quality.

Brands can use a higher number of shorter, lower quality fibres, in their sheets. This will lead to a higher thread count. But the result will be a lower quality and less breathable fabric that will wear out faster. Egyptian cotton is considered one of the best you can get, but in reality, cotton grown in Egypt can be both high and low quality. Egypt is just one of many great places to grow cotton.

While thread count is one factor in determining quality, the most important factor is the quality of the cotton fibre. And the longer the fibre, the more soft and durable the fabric.

So, if you want luxury, hotel-grade bedding that gets better with every wash, shop with us. At Rise and Fall we only use the world’s best extra-long staple cotton from India. This cotton is so good it makes up less than 1% of cotton in the world and makes for the softest and most durable sheets.
What size bed linen can you buy from Rise & Fall?
Our bed linen sets are suitable for single to emperor sized beds We even cut our fitted sheets with extra depth and fit them with an extra wide, grippy elastic to allow them to mold around every sized mattress, from thin to extra deep. This makes them suitable for use on EU double and EU king beds. Our pillowcases come in two sizes - standard and super king, depending on whether you opt for the cotton or linen range.
How often should bed linen be changed?
We recommend changing your bed linen every one to two weeks. If you sleep in the bed less often, wear pyjamas or shower before bed, you might change your bed less often than if you shower in the morning or are a hot sleeper. Leaving it longer than 2 weeks can lead to a build up of dust mites which can cause allergies. It can also lead to staining on your sheets.
What temperature should bed linen be washed at?
Our cotton sets can be washed at 40 degrees, but we recommend a gentle cycle for brushed cotton. Linen can be washed slightly lower at 30 degrees.
Do I need to iron my bed linen?
You don’t always need to iron your bed linen. It all depends how you dry them. If it is hung up from fully wet or part wet, it will dry quite smoothly, without too many wrinkles. But if you want that perfect hotel finish, you can iron your bed linen on a low to medium heat.
How long should bed linen last?
As long as you buy quality, you shouldn’t have to buy new linen very often. In fact, if you take care of it, the best bed linen should last over 10 years, getting softer with time. If you start to notice too many loose threads, pulls or even tears and the bedding is starting to feel rough or uncomfortable then it's time to replace it.
Can I return my Rise & Fall bed linen if I change my mind?
Yes, you can get a full refund as long as you haven’t used it. All bed linen must be returned within 30-days, with original packaging with all tags and labels attached.
