What morning ritual or habit have you developed that sets you up for a better day?
I run to Hampstead (where the practice is) from my home in Brixton. My route takes me through Hyde Park, Regents Park and Primrose Hill and it's beautiful. The ultimate mind cleanser before a day of work. My poor knees.
What’s your daily uniform?
Casual on bottom, smart on top. I tend to wear some jeans and trainers or birkenstocks, with a shirt and (weather dependent) jumper option on top.
Where are you local to, and what’s your best neighbourhood recommendation?
We are in Hampstead - just off the Heath. We are dangerously close to my favourite pub - The Magdala. Great beer selection and live Irish folk music on a Thursday!
Which modern convenience couldn't you live without, and why?
My glasses, sorry, such a cliche answer. But they've given me two things - vision and a career!
"Materially better, for me, is when something is made with such care and precision, that it just feels right – even if you can’t quite explain why. Quality should be quiet. Subtle. It doesn’t announce itself, but it shows up in how something feels and fits seamlessly into your life. In my profession, I work at an unusual intersection between healthcare and design. Precision is key, but it’s the details - the weight of a frame, the bend of a hinge, the clarity of a lens - that truly make it special."
What’s your favourite piece of art (regardless of medium, e..g painting, design, movie)?
I'm biased here. I make David Hockney's glasses and I recently went to the opening of his new show in Paris. He's wearing his yellow Ransome specs in his latest self-portrait and it is EPIC.
What are you currently coveting, reading, watching and listening to?
I've been watching the latest series of White Lotus, but I have to say I think the other series were infinitely better...controversial?! I am reading (slowly) A Portrait of the Brain by Adam Zeman. It's phenomenal.
